. a shocking death. a united states ambassador in libya dead today. the obama administration taking steps now this hour to beef up security at embassies around the world. after this veteran diplomat christopher stevens along with three of his american staffers were murdered by a mob in benghazi, libya. the attack yesterday was apparently triggered by a film, a film produced by an american by the name of sam basil. considered by many to be highly offensive to islam. again, a film. these murders taking place in a country that the united states helped to liberate from the dictator moammar gadhafi and a mob attacked the embassy in cairo, egypt, yesterday. climbing the embassy walls. tearing down and ripping apart the united states flag. it's unclear if the attacks were koord natded or plans to con side with the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks here in america. but moments ago, our president obama spoke out about these killings. >> the united states condemns in the strongest terms this outrageous and shocking attack. we're working with the government of libya to secure our diplomats. i've alwa

dangerous country in the world. and the number one threat to the united states is iran acquiring a nuclear weapon. the suggestion by prime minister netanyahu that the united states should set a red line and say in advance that we would use force if iran achieved a certain level of progress in its nuclear effort doesn't make a lot of sense to me. this is a question of war and peace. and both president obama and president bush have tried to say we need to negotiate with iran and have the ability to sanction it and use force if necessary, but you don't want to put yourself into a corner and use force based on actio and a predetermined level as what the iranians do. so i think president obama is right here to resist that. and israel should know that the united states has its back as the president has said and the united states will do what it must do to stop iran. but let the united states make that decision, not some preimposed red line. i think that makes sense for america. >> president obama on " 6/0 minutes" on sunday said this. let's play a clip. >> and it comes to our national security d

this is symbolic. the egyptian arrest warrants don't have any meaning in the united states. it stems from last tuesday here near the u.s. embassy in cairo where these protests all began. when they marched down towards the embassy. they ripped down the american flag to protest the movie. now the egyptian court wants to arrest seven coptic christians and one u.s. pastor allegedly behind this film. that is interesting i sat down with one of the organizers of one. protests a couple days ago, a man with very strong ties to al qaeda. he told me wants people tried by sharia law. under sharia law you are convicted of the insulting the prophet muhammad and don't repent you are executed. this move i about the egyptian courts shows how much egypt changed in 18 months. we went to a place a moderate islamic state to one really kowtowing to the demands of hard-line islamists and here demanding people's arrests, bill. bill: we watched it all flare up on friday last week. what is your sense of the violence, the potential of violence throughout the region? will it get worse? will it escalate or not, leland? >>

.s. embassy in cairo is being fueled by an anti-muslim video made here in the united states. >> u.s. marines being called in as enforcements in been gone sea. >> the romney campaign already drafted a critical statement saying the obama had minute administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions but to sympathize with those that waged the attacks. here's the problem with that. the romney statement was sent to reporters just after 10:00 p.m. on tuesday with the caveat it not be released until after midnight. it was sent befor many of the facts were gathered. the statement is wrong because the obama administrations official statement from the secretary of state released just before the romney statement reads like this. i condemn in the strongest terms the attack on our mission in benghazi today. our commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. but let me be clear there is never any justification for violent attacks of this kind pf clinton's statement does not sympathize. anybody that tells you it did is lying. if you belie
